Who's Who.
Junior Band.
Musical Director    -   Ian Carr
Ian was eight when he first started playing the Trumpet.  He gradually moved on to Tenor Horn and played with local and county bands in his native Worcestershire and performed solos on BBC local radio.  When he was 13 he moved on to French Horn and played in local orchestras and wind ensembles.  By this time, Ian was also playing Piano and Clarinet.  Due to the size of the French Horn mouthpiece, Ian continued his brass band playing on Soprano Cornet for a short time.
At 16 Ian passed the audition to become a musician in the Band of the Grenadier Guards.  For the next 24 years he performed at all the major state occasions in the best concert venues and toured throughout Europe, North America, Australia and the Far East.  Outside his duties with the Grenadier Guards Ian continued to perform with wind ensembles and pit orchestras on horn and in jazz bands, dance bands, pop groups and even oompah bands on piano and keyboard.
Having left the Army, Ian’s music once again became a hobby and he returned to his brass band roots.  He has played solo cornet and soprano cornet with Ampthill Band.  He took over as the Band’s Musical Director at the start of 2008.
